In the early 1980's, Cathy attained triple-gold certification (Gold Figure, Gold Free-Style, Gold Dance) by training extensively with two Olympians and she had the privilege of performing in the closing ceremonies of the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada.  In 1992, Cathy relocated to San Jose and established the Bay Area's first formal power skating program know as Power Hour.  

Cathy's Power Skating is the culmination of her technical figure skating experience combined with practical hockey knowledge.  She is innovative and continually refines her hybrid hockey skating training system which has proven successful for her players. 

Cathy is widely regarded as Northern California's premier power skating instructor and has coached athletes ranging from minor level hockey players through NAHL, USHL, NCAA D1 and D3, EHL, AHL, OHL, USA National Team, NHL & Olympic Team members.  Cathy's methods and accomplishments have been recognized nationally for her work with players in the Wall Street Journal, Sports Illustrated, ESPN,, and local publications.

Cathy extended her passion to help players of all ages and skill levels by opening Extra Hour Off-Ice Hockey Training Facility.

Sean, a native of San Jose, grew up playing for the Santa Clara Blackhawks and NorCal Rep Club. At age 13, he became one of Cathy's first private hockey students. Beginning in 1997, Sean began assisting Cathy with Power Hour and became a private instructor. After his playing career that included Jr. A hockey in Alberta, college hockey in New England and Buffalo, NY, and minor pro stops in Fresno and Knoxville, Sean returned to the Bay Area and resumed coaching private lessons and San Jose Jr. Sharks teams. Sean has worked with students who have ultimately reached the NHL, AHL, CHL, and NCAA levels. Sean is also a Level 4 USA hockey certified and SafeSport trained.

Matt played his collegiate hockey at Worcester State University (NCAA DIII) prior to graduating from Saint Michael's College with degrees in both French and psychology. He is currently a coach of the San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U AAA team. As a skills coach at Extra Hour, Matt specializes in shooting, passing and stick handling mechanics and works with his students on developing efficient motion patterns that translate into game scenarios.

Cathy's son, Cameron, first stepped on the ice at 18 months old. Cameron has been playing travel hockey for the Jr. Sharks since he was 11 years old and has competed at multiple levels ranging from A to AAA. He held the captaincy for both Junior Sharks 18AA and Valley Christian High School hockey teams. Cameron has coached the Power Hour series since 2014 and demonstrates drills and techniques in addition to coaching. He has been an integral part of expanding the Power Hour series around the Bay Area and beyond. Cameron has worked in development camps and shooting clinics with NHL players on the ice.  Currently, Cameron attends and plays hockey at Loyola Marymount University (LMU), he is the franchise leading scorer as a defensive player in his first 2 years.

Brandon is a San Jose local who played for Jr. Sharks AA - AAA (1998 - 2008) and ultimately ended up playing for teh San Jose Spartans ACHA D2 program. In 2013, he started working for the Jr. Sharks organization coaching a variety of AA and AAA teams over the years. Brandon is currently finishing his degree in Psychology with a focus on Cognitive-Behavioral sciences and Gamification. Brandon is currently coaching the 12UUAA Jr. Sharks team.

Coach Tatjana "Tiki" Tikhonov was born in the USSR and lived in Russia, Latvia and Finland before moving to California in the early 90's when her father was an assistant coach for the San Jose Sharks.  Alongside her brother, Viktor Tikhonov, she started taking power skating lessons with Coach Cathy Andrade.  As a youth, Tiki played for the Santa Clara Blackhawks.  Her professional time was with Porin Assat in Finland and DHCL in Switzerland. 

Tiki's coaching career started in 1998 with the Santa Clara Blackhawks and she also has coached the Jr. Sharks and Blue Devils. In 2016, she received USA Hockey Level 5 Master Certification and was accepted to Haaga-Helia in Finland.  While in her first year of studies, Tiki was an assistant coach for the VMA United 20u team and the first female coach to run ice practices in the schools history.  In 2018, she became the first female coach in Polish history to coach a men's professional ice hockey team in Nowy Targ.

Currently, Tiki is finishing her Bachelors degree in ice hockey coaching and management from Haaga-Helia by doing her practical year at Extra Hour Off-Ice Hockey Training Facility and writing her thesis on breaking through barriers as a female head coach in men's professional ice hockey.

Tiki speaks English, Russian and Finnish and is available for private or group lessons.

Shane Galaviz (B.S., C.S.C.S., USAh. Lvl.4) spent years working with The Rinks (Ducks) adult programs, high school programs and coaching Jr. Ducks teams. Shane has a passion for coaching and teaching hockey in any capacity that he can.  Shane Graduated Cal State Fullerton with B.S. Kinesiology and Exercise Science and currently coaches the Jr. Sharks 18AA team and 10U A.  He offers lessons revolving around shot power, technique, quicker release, as well as, stick handling and passing technique with the goal of making you an all-around more efficient and dynamic player.

Mike currently serves as the 16U AAA coach for the San Jose Jr. Sharks. Prior to coming to San Jose, the Chicago native, played a year in the NAHL and 2 years in the USHL for the Chicago Steel. After the USHL, Mike played NCAA Division 1 hockey for the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).  At RIT, Mike enjoyed tremendous success which included 2 Conference Regular Season Championships, 1 Conference Championship and a Frozen Four trip in 2010.

After college, Mike coached 1 season in the NAHL with the Springfield Jr. Blues.  Mike is currently a Level 4 USA Hockey coach and volunteers as the Coach-In-Chief for NorCal and CAHA. He is a certified USA Hockey instructor and works with USA Hockey Nationals Camp in Buffalo, N.Y. each summer. Mike is SafeSport certified and specializes in shooting mechanics and puck skills. Mr. Janda is also the Development Coordinator for the Jr. Sharks and Director of Coaches.

Martin grew up in the Bay Area playing youth hockey for the Santa Clara Valley Hockey Association. During his time as a goalie with the SCHVA Blackhawks, Martin was named the '99 CAHA Bantam All Star game MVP and played in both NorCal and CA state championships. Martin graduated from SJSU in 2007 playing 4 seasons of ACHA D2 collegiate hockey for the Spartans, where they reached the national playoffs in 3 of his 4 years there. After college, he landed a position with the San Jose Jr Sharks as the Goalie Coach for the program. Martin also coached a team in each of his 10 years with the club. Under his guidance, Martin has helped goalies find success after youth hockey at all levels including NCAA D1, NCAA D3, ACHA D1, ACHA D2, USHL, WHL, and NAHL.Martin's goalie talents led him to signing and dressing for a couple games with the Iowa Wild of the AHL and he is currently part of the NHL emergency backup goalie (EBUG) rotation utilized by the San Jose Sharks for all of their home games. Last year, he got to dress and backup a game for the Winnipeg Jets.

Shawn is a sports performance coach who has worked in the fitness industry for over 40 years.  Shawn spent eight years as a member of the Mastermind Group for fitness professionals under Todd Durkin; an organization that trains world-class professional athletes. In 2008, Shawn founded Vital Individual Performance (V.I.P.), where he has trained hundreds of competitive athletes of all ages in virtually every sport.   

Shawn has joined forces with Extra Hour Off-Ice Hockey Training Facility to focus exclusively on the specific training needs of the hockey player. Shawn uses his depth of knowledge and unique ability to assess movement patterns, identify weaknesses, and motivate the athlete to nurture talent and elevate individual performance in the sport of hockey.
